Patrick Paul Vieira has departed from Strasbourg following a mutual consent agreement between him and the Ligue 1 club.
The French team is under the ownership of BlueCo, which is led by American businessman Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, also the major stakeholders in Chelsea Football Club.
After finishing the previous season at the 13th position in the league standings, a significant improvement from their 15th place finish the year prior, Strasbourg opted to part ways with Vieira.
Marc Keller, the club’s president, released an official statement acknowledging Vieira’s contributions during his tenure and expressing hopes for his future successes.
The 48-year-old coach had signed a three-year deal upon joining Strasbourg last summer; however, his tenure with the French club has unexpectedly come to an end after just one season.
Earlier this summer, Vieira shared that Strasbourg was now part of the Chelsea family given Todd Boehly’s ownership involvement.
In a podcast interview with Stick to Football, he discussed the challenges faced during his first year managing in Strasbourg, expressing frustration yet maintaining a positive outlook for the future.
Mutual decision to part ways
The French Ligue 1 club, Strasbourg, and its former head coach, Patrick Vieira, have reached a mutual consent to part ways. The terms of this agreement were kept confidential by both parties, with no further details disclosed regarding the reasons leading to this decision.
In light of their recent separation with Patrick Vieira, Strasbourg are actively seeking out a qualified and experienced replacement to lead their Ligue 1 team.
We would like to express our gratitude and thank Patrick for the work he has accomplished during this first phase of the project and we wish him much success in the future
Marc Keller
After parting ways with Strasbourg, the experienced manager Patrick Vieira is now contemplating his future plans in football. The former player has been named as part of FIFA 100 greatest living footballers in 2004.
With a proven track record of success, he remains an attractive prospect for clubs looking to recruit a new coach.
